The F Word: Eliminate Frizz Once & For All!
Frizz is one of the most common problems amongst us curlies and we’ve all experienced it at one point or another. Today, we’re sharing some simple steps to help you eliminate frizz and get luscious locks, every washday. ✨
Moisturise & Seal
The first and most important step to get rid of frizz is to use a styling product (think leave-in conditioners, gels etc.) and make sure to apply on soaking wet hair.
When hair is dehydrated, it tries to take in moisture from the atmosphere, which causes it to frizz up. Use a moisturising cream on soaking wet hair to hydrate your hair well enough and prevent this from happening.
Follow this up with a gel to lock and seal in all that great moisture. This will ensure your hair has a protective layer around it which will stop frizz in its tracks and will also help prevent any knots from forming.
A great option to get rid of frizz is the Ecoslay Orange Marmalade Gel - a creamy, moisturising gel that gives strong hold, shine and perfectly formed curls with no frizz. If your hair is super dry, prep it using the Rice-Pudding Leave-in Conditioner - a dreamy, nourishing leave-in which leaves her silky smooth and smells of gorgeous jasmine.
Break up with damage..
Heat, straighteners & chemical treatments all contribute to creating frizz. Give your hair a break and bring it back to life by following these 3 steps to recovering from damaged hair.
Avoid silicones & sulfates
Products that contain silicones may initially make your hair look shiny, but by forming a plastic coating around the hair shaft, they prevent moisture (from products) from entering your hair. Long term use can cause dryness which in turn, will cause frizz.
Likewise, sulfates - which are harsh cleansing agents found in many mainstream shampoos - can be very drying for us curlies because curly hair is by nature more dry. Using sulfates to scrub away the natural oils from your hair just causes it to be even more dehydrated.
Try using a sulfate-free shampoo and a silicone-free conditioner for a month or two and we guarantee your hair will feel more hydrated and you'll have less frizz!
Go gentle when drying
If you’re using the wrong drying techniques, you could be creating unnecessary frizz. Check out this blog post for how to minimise frizz during the drying process.
Armed with the right techniques and products, you can definitely beat the frizz! Don’t forget that consistency is the key to seeing improvements.
