Katerina Vrana Joins The #bouclestribe
Katerina Vrana: legend, stand up comedian, feminist warrior and last but definitely not least - CURLY GIRL who has recently joined the #bouclestribe*
When I first discovered Katerina Vrana, I had 2 immediate thoughts. The first was "OMG she's so badass" and the second was "She should be in the #bouclestribe". I never thought it would happen, but here we are, over a year later and I can finally share this story with you.
How it started...
Voted as 3rd Funniest Person In The World (Laugh Factory) and on CNN's "Female Comedians To Watch" list, Katerina has used her curly hair as the butt of many jokes and incorporated it into her standup endlessly.
Clearly it's a huge part of her identity, but it was time to change the narrative.
After she collaborated with a mainstream haircare brand, our #bouclestribe started tagging us under the video (thanks guys, we love you forever 🫶🏽) because they knew there was more potential for this fabulous hair.
That was last December!
We waited patiently until June, when Katerina came to Cyprus as part of the Femme Festival and we took the opportunity to meet her and give her a full in person Curl Consultation.
I have to confess, I was nervous before meeting her but she put me at ease immediately, eagerly asking to hear all about Boucles Project with full excitement and passion. Although she’s basically a celebrity, apart from being hilarious, Katerina was down to earth, super approachable and endlessly kind.
We talked at length about her hair and gave her a full CurlyEllie Intense product line up so she could start using the products before the next (and most exciting) step in the process: a visit to the one and only Elle from Boho & Curl.
The cut...
Before Elle brought out the scissors, there was a full consultation where she asked questions and listened carefully to what Katerina wanted. Katerina didn't want to lose much length, she just wanted a trim to even out the uneven layers and bring life back to her curls.
Once the consultation was over, Elle was eager to get started, but Katerina had to quickly do a live interview with Ant1 😂
The results...
When the interview was over, Katerina settled into Elle's chair and the beautiful process of cutting curls in their natural, dry state, finally began!
